Social Media in Irish Community and Voluntary Sector

An interesting infographic which provides us with a snapshot of how the community and voluntary sector in Ireland is making use of social media (double click on image for easier viewing).

You can also check out this presentation on SlideShare which breaks down the findings in greater detail.

The Wheel

I had a very interesting day today attending the fundraising workshop at The Wheel, a support and representative body connecting community and voluntary organisations and charities across Ireland.

I will be writing some more on what I learned about fundraising basics in future posts, but for now, I wanted to alert those of you who may not be aware of this organisation to their training courses, and in particular their weekly deal. The weekly deal offers significant savings on training courses and the current deal is well worth checking out:

40% off Survival Essentials for Charities

Sign up to their newsletter to be kept up to date on more great deals, training opportunities and the latest news from the non-profit sector in Ireland. Lots more information on their website: http://www.wheel.ie.

Non-Profit News and Views

Welcome to a new feature - a weekly round-up of the latest news and views concerning non-profits. Watch out for it each Friday.

Katya Andresen explores the science of giving and how much social norms inspire giving in her latest blog post.

Katya also provides a great list of what’s in and out for non-profits in 2011 focussing on the very elements I talk of a lot here – engagement, interaction and relationship building.

The Wheel (Ireland) has some advice on Improving Your Appeals in Tough Times. Incidentally The Wheel are currently recruiting for an experienced Communications & Marketing Intern for those who might be interested in gaining experience in this area.
